Photo by @daisygilardini | King penguins huddle together on the wide, two-mile-long expanse of sand flats at Volunteer Point in the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). The Point, a private nature reserve three hours from the capital of Stanley, was named after the ship Volunteer, which first called at the islands in 1815.
The white sandy beach, bordered by high grassy banks and dunes, provides an ideal nesting ground for gentoo, Magellanic, and king penguins.
