Photo by @andrea_frazzetta | The best time to climb Stromboli is in the evening, at sunset. During the day it's too hot. The climb lasts for about four hours. At the beginning you proceed slowly, but in the end, when you are almost at the top, you have to climb, exhausted. By nightfall everything around you becomes dark. The steps are slow. And the Earth, made of lava beneath your feet, is a metallic mirror that reflects the light of the moon.
In this picture a group of tourists is on an excursion to the top of the volcano. Located in the middle of the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of the Sicilian coast, Stromboli is a small island dominated by one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
