A rare sight greeted those in parts of Japan on Sunday morning as light snow fell on cherry blossoms. Shibuya’s Hachiko Square, near the famed scramble intersection — was uncharacteristically quiet as Tokyo-ites had been urged by Yuriko Koike, the city’s governor, to stay home this weekend due to the growing number of novel coronavirus cases. Even the sakura lining Meguro River, which attract hundreds of thousands of residents every year, were getting a fraction of the attention despite being near full bloom. Likewise, visitors were sparse in Kodomo Shizen Koen in Yokohama’s Asahi Ward, where the pink blossoms got a light dusting of white. (📸: @ryuseitakahashi217 @oscar.boyd @magdalena_osumi)
