No matter what kind of food you like to eat, to me it’s important that you have a balanced diet and eat food that gives you enough energy to get your training done and stay strong and healthy.
If you don’t eat meat, I recommend that you add another source of protein to your meal and extra vegetables. Avoid just cutting out the meat component of a recipe, always try and replace it with something else.
These are my tips for making sure you get enough protein:
✅Add beans or lentils to your meal. There are so many different varieties, find which ones you like.
✅Make swaps in recipes: swap chicken or red meat for tofu or eggs and swap mince for lentils.
✅Snack on nuts or dairy, a bowl of yoghurt or some cheese are good options.
✅If you’re ordering takeaway, choose cuisines that are traditionally vegetarian because they are the experts! Try Mexican meals with black beans, Indian dahl or Thai dishes with tofu.
