チェルシー・ルーズさんのインスタグラム写真 - (チェルシー・ルーズInstagram)「I woke up this morning with at least 100 less followers than I went to bed with. This didn’t come to a surprise to me, TBH. Yesterday I stood up for humanity; for my brothers and sisters of color, near and far✌🏿✌🏾✌🏽✌🏻. For those whose lives are impacted daily, beyond my comprehension, simply because their skin color is darker. My skin color is white and this gives me more opportunity, daily privileges, and makes me more trustworthy. The list goes on. My white skin gives me more power, especially with my voice. I’m learning how to leverage my voice to make our world even just a tiny bit better - it’s likely going to be a life long pursuit. I’m done sitting on the sidelines feeling like I got ran over by a bus simply because I’m an empath at heart. I’ve learned recently that empathy doesn’t really lead to change. It can be debilitating because when we are too distressed about the suffering of others, we have little cognitive and emotional resources left for actionable things to help them. Compassion, on the other hand, actually sparks action in a different part of the brain than empathy does. This part of the brain is called the medial orbitofrontal cortex, which is connected to reward in decision making and learning. When we are able to show compassion, which is a cognitive understanding of how someone is feeling, then we leave more room for actionable things that can help and lead to change. The feelings of getting hit by a bus because we are overwhelmed with pain for others ceases to exist, or at least in a way that becomes debilitating. 👉So to anyone who hasn’t unfollowed me yet, stand by me. There will still be climbing, lake jumping, adventure posts. But there will also be advocate posts for the things I believe in, too. You’ll get to know me as a whole person. And I don’t expect you to always be on the same page me - I welcome your opinion and beliefs, fully. That’s the beauty of this life and humanity - we all see things differently. And if we lean into that, perhaps we can all learn a little something from one another.」6月2日 0時47分 - chelseanicholerude
