They cook and share with their families and neighbors.”  Ocasio is the director of Food Bank for New York City’s Community Kitchen and Food Pantry in Harlem. Her job involves making sure that teams are able to distribute food to the largest number of people in need that they possibly can. And, since Covid began, distributing that food safely has become an even higher priority. The need to socially distance and quarantine has been challenging, but it’s also given Ocasio hope. “Our distance has shown us how much we need each other and has actually driven us closer to each other emotionally. We realized that we need each other to get through this. We already knew that hunger was wrong. Now we see more acutely how we're connected.”  There is beauty everywhere in New York, Ocasio believes all we have to do is be willing to notice; “I like watching the East River heave, the bellow of a good laugh, and looking up from the sidewalk and randomly seeing a pretty bird on 116th St. If I can still appreciate those things, I know there's no space for despair.”  Coach is proud to support Feeding America and their work delivering food to communities who need it.
