The issue compiles products from GINZA SIX’s 200+ shops and restaurants, each with an accompanying message for our customers. In the issue we also feature a series of special interviews. First up is internationally renowned French graphic artist Jean Jullien, who drew the cover illustration for the issue. Here’s an excerpt: “I’ve depicted animals in my work before, but animal iconography has been especially significant in Japan since long ago—take ‘Hokusai Manga’ or the ‘Scrolls of Frolicking Animals and Humans,’ for example. The endearing quality of the depictions softens the seriousness that underlies the art. In other words, even if what’s being depicted doesn’t appear serious, there is deep reflection behind it.
