The steep gneiss can range from incredibly solid with climbable features to loose rock in a state of disintegration. Over the years thousands of climbers have perfected their craft in this multifaceted range. Early September @sav.cummins @adreadedclimber & @jimmychin and I set out to do the Grand Traverse with bivouacs for the fun of camping out with friends. Jimmy and Sav, in working with the @nytmag, would see the climb through their lenses. Days spent moving over ground with a pack and nights spent keeping warm are quality regardless of where they take place. A little adversity brings us closer.
