We connected on how we find strength and courage by helping others. George is a beacon of goodness that I look up to. His mother raised by Grandma Josie Trehero who was married to one of Chief Washakie’s (third image) sons, his name was George. “I’m named after him. I live my life the best I can to honor him and all great ones who walked before us.” George is a pillar of his community, dedicating his life as an educator for the past 27 years. He coaches 4 sports each year, providing mentorship to young adults. He is a dedicated family man, married for 33 years with 4 kids and 10 grandchildren. Helping his brother become a Sundance Chief has been another step with family and Native American culture and identity. His daughter Talissa is a Ledger Artist, painting on old paper. It’s a wonderful form of art. George has also been on the PowWow circuit for the past 40 years. Mostly as a fancy dancer yet also as a master of ceremonies and as a judge.
