This was Yom Kippur break fast at Grammy and Sammy’s house. Casual and small like most COVID-friendly gatherings. My favorite part was when I turned around and saw Frankie in Grammy’s lap. Grammy is NOT a dog person and has spent her whole life telling me she is allergic (her reason why we couldn’t have a dog when I was younger), so to see her hold Frankie voluntarily was quite something! I know most people like to have a bagel loaded with lox, cream cheese, onions and tomato for break fast, but not me. Bialy toasted with butter, thank you very much. Not the most insta-worthy meal, but it’s all I want after a full day of fasting! We ate, watched the kids do a talent show (Harlow danced to Hamilton, Jack rapped the Jack song, Neve did a somersault and Mazzy did a puppet show using Frankie as her puppet) and then we all said goodbye. Every time we see my mom, we say goodbye like we might not see each other again for a long time. It’s the worst.
