On Wednesday, if there are no new announcements or sudden changes, Mazzy is going back to in-person school, five days a week. I have to say, as excited as I am for her (and she is SO EXCITED), I will also really miss our time together over the last seven months. Remote learning is wildly different for parents depending on the age of their kids and I think Mazzy was really at the best possible age for this. She has learned to be so independent, going into her room for school at 9:15am with no reminders necessary. Then she emerges for snacks, lunch, hugs and random mother daughter moments when time permits. Sometimes I pop my head in to share something with her too or to deliver her a surprise treat. Or she’ll come out to tell me something funny that happened in the class when she’s finished with an assignment and has a few minutes to spare before the class resumes. I love having her in the next room all day long, while we are both independently working. It’s like Mazzy is my co-worker friend whose desk I go sit on to chat when I need a break. Oh man, it’s like my favorite co-worker is starting a new job!!! We’ll just have to commiserate over after work drinks now. ❤️
