Originally from southern Europe, leaf beetles have been widespread in areas further north, like Britain, since the mid-1990s. Often considered a pest, both larvae and adults of this species feed on the foliage and flowers of plants including rosemary, lavender, sage, and thyme. Thankfully, while their feeding habits may impact parts of the plant used for culinary purposes, the beetles do not cause major damage to their host plants, and can be easily removed by hand.
