Superb starlings are superb in more ways than one - not only do they sport incredibly colorful feathers, but they are also superb fliers with a gift for learning songs and calls. The shape of this birds’ wings allow it to fly swiftly and pull off quick maneuvers which is helpful when navigating through its woodland home or escaping a predator. A vocal species often found in large flocks, starlings can whistle, alarm call, and even mimic other species, with some of their songs consisting of over 80 distinct phrases.
