The artist says: 'My work is about encouraging Black women to take up space, be seen and create our own spaces. While I have admired Lubaina Himid's work for years, preparing for today's live has given me time to research and explore Lubaina's work more thoroughly. Her career spans over four decades, and is dedicated to uncovering marginalised and silenced histories, figures, and cultural expressions. Today I'll share how my series 'Seeing Ourselves' has grown from my own similar interest.' To join in with today's workshop, all you'll need is glue, a scalpel and cutting mat (or scissors), a photograph of yourself (or a picture of a person who you connect with) and images of nature from a magazine or newspaper.
