Video by @balazsgardi / Deep in the heart of Mexico’s Baja peninsula, cowboys or vaqueros uphold a traditional way of life that has changed little since their ancestors arrived from Spain three centuries ago.
Rancher Nacho Arce Arce took me for a ride on El Camino Real (“The Royal Road”), a backcountry trail that once linked mission settlements from southern Baja all the way up to Sonoma, California.
Come along with me for the next week as I take you inside the hardscrabble, rarely seen world of the last vaqueros.
