カーリー・ウォパットさんのインスタグラム写真 - (カーリー・ウォパットInstagram)「I injured my left foot in the first tournament of the season, and the past week has been uncomfortable but significant as I sit with myself, critique my system & make the necessary adjustments. Thankfully, the injury is not nearly as severe as I was originally told (radiologist said I shattered a bone into multiple pieces, slapped a cast on, and handed me crutches). 😳😭 Grateful for the specialists I saw this week who helped me sort it out. A little more time of non-impact activity, and we will see how it progresses. 🙌🏼 Here are some of my own lessons from this experience. I hope you can learn from them too. 1. You will grieve after an injury. And this is natural. Pending on the severity, an injury can result in the loss of plans, routines, dreams, identity, etc. It’s a painful thing. Understand that you will likely cycle through the 5 stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, & acceptance - and hold the appropriate space for them. Then move on. 2. Impact needs to be monitored. Especially as things ramp up into a season/ competition. I was on an excellent training program for the entirety of preseason, but as practices increased in intensity the few weeks before Miami, overall impact volume increased as well. Consistency is key, and I was determined to keep doing what I’ve been doing, because it’s been working. As a blocker, however, my jump volume is already much higher than the average, and scaling back either in the gym or on the court was necessary. It’s my job to recognize and make those adjustments (no one else is keeping track). 3. Stretching is critical, and I have been disciplined about getting it done. But what I’ve neglected is TIMING. The most important time to stretch is right after activity is done, and your muscles are still warm. 4. Hot yoga is the best medicine for just about everything. Thank you @sohoyoga for being there for me 🫶🏻🥹 The body is one big chain, and if injury manifests in one area, I‘ve always found results in treating the body in entirety as a whole. Hot yoga opens up tissue, fascia, pathways, and all the tensions and energies that get locked away. Good for the body, mind, and spirit. 5. God’s plan.」3月27日 9時29分 - carlywopat
