Most people either haven’t heard of this tiny county in the Pacific, or have heard of it bc of IG, or bc they’re avid divers. I definitely only knew about the cool islands and jellyfish lake, but realized a lot more when I got there! Palau is in fact very tiny. In fact I ran into the same people every day. It is also very expensive! Even with being hosted for 4 nights, it still ended up being $2k+ and that’s including flights from Manila which were “affordable”. Next I realized (since I didn’t get taught this in school) it was a major WWII war zone with USA vs Japan. Tens of thousands of soldiers died on the even tinier island of Peleliu, and it saddened me that I never even knew about it until now. Also makes me continue to question shady things that the govs do on tiny remote islands…. ✈️👀 Anyway, lots of awesome Palau content and info coming soon! Including the only tour companies that were actual running and responsive! This pic is the scenic flight with Smile Air, it was about $200 and they included this cool photo that the pilot took with a camera mounted on the wing and his remote on his phone in the cockpit next to me 🙌 Oh and spoiler alert: all the jellyfish in the lake are gone.
