I associated history lessons with war, suffering, sacrifice and injustice and found it a rather depressing and distressing subject to learn about. History made me fear humanity by hearing of the sheer greed, depravity and violence that ruled the majority of civilisations, yet as an adult I am absolutely fascinated by history. When I go on holiday I instantly look for monuments and points of interest to visit, take tours, buy travel books and want to soak up and experience every aspect of what has made the world that we see today. This can be applied as a whole, especially when it comes to mental health and happiness, because to understand who we are as individuals we must first realise where we come from. Through studying psychology, cognition and neuro linguistics I recognised how important it was for me to understand myself so that I might help others to do the same. This meant reconnecting with my roots, remembering what I felt most passionate about as a child and learning to speak the language of my ancestors, Hungarian, which I was never taught by my parents. The deeper that we dig, the more that we know.
