The photo is of the curator, Laura Allen, with the catalog for the exhibition, which she wrote and edited. The first print run was 10,000 copies, and two days before the exhibition opened, additional printing was already decided. The second print run will be 9,500 copies, I am told. There are several approaches to making an exhibition catalog. One way is to include the photographs of the actual installation on site and focus on documenting the exhibition. This time, the approach was a little different, and the catalogue is aimed at the visitors to communicate the concept of the exhibition. There is a painting series titled “Unfamiliar People" that I started to create during the pandemic, and the imagery of the first painting really seemed to resonate with Laura, so she selected it for the cover. In my own surrealistic way, I portrayed in this work the changing state of people who become skeptical and uncertain due to the pandemic. This is my first exhibition at a museum in San Francisco, and it seems that expectations were very high; I am told that the catalog is flying off the shelves.
