Richard Turere, a young inventor, tends and protects his father’s cattle in Kenya. Lions are a serious threat, but at the ripe age of 11, Richard decided to fix the problem. He loves tinkering with electrical gadgets, and that hobby sparked a clever idea: Using a broken flashlight and some solar charging cells, he built a fence with flickering lights that tricked the lions into thinking there was a guard on patrol, so they stayed away.
