Change. Impermanence. This is the inevitable reality of life. The whole reason why getting too attached to something brings suffering is because sooner or later things will shift and if you try to hold onto the past then you will not only be miserable, but you will fail. Change keeps us humble, teaches us that we are not all powerful, that sometimes strength means that we have to surrender. Injury is a great teacher of acceptance. I can't tell you how many times I've struggled with big and small injuries in my body over the last 15 years of my practice. And while each of these injuries has taught me something that has made my practice better in the long run, my first reaction is always to resist the change that they bring in. I always think at first, how can I get "back" to where I was before the injury or pain. But you can never go "back" to some mythic time in the past when all was good and the more you search for it or try to make it happen, the more you fight with your reality in the present. You can heal and move on, but if you think about trying to get "back" it will literally only hold you back. Accept the situation at hand, work with it as it is. Accept the present moment and its current lesson. Ask for healing, and let go of the past, even the most cherished memories. Let go, be free, experience the simple beauty of the present moment. And have faith that where you're going next will be even better than where you've been. Keep the faith especially when the path is dark and dimly lit and you can't see the next step so you're filled with fear. Faith is the illuminating light that fills your heart with the peace that passes all understanding. Let it keep you steady through the inevitable fluctuations of life. #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo by @ifilmyoga Wearing @aloyoga
