As many of you know, Tom Bridegroom and I were in a committed relationship for six wonderful years until he died in a tragic accident. We'd always hoped to be able to get married someday and start a family. Although we were deeply in love, the fear of offending others kept us from showing affection in front of friends or family, or even strangers. No one ever saw the pictures above until after Tom died and we never held hands in public--not one, single time. We also developed a secret code to say "I love you." We would tap each other three times or simply say, "Tap-tap-tap."

I wish we could have declared our love publicly and legally. It's too late for me and Tom, but it's not too late to help others fulfill that dream.
