Getting humbled is part of climbing. Cracks go anatomically incorrect, snow looses all consistency, wind takes your strength, heat saps your motivation and not making it to the top leaves you questioning the purpose.
Yet we always try again.
A week ago today I experienced a tangent of humble that I seldom see. Dan and the folks @firstascentclimbing in Chicago hosted the Uptown Throwdown, a three hour bouldering comp. With a bunch of stoked climbers, retro music and 50 new problems everyone was pumped silly.

The best part was getting schooled by teens with teddy bear chalk bags. Thanks for the motivation Chicago!
