Smoothies in the sunshine ☀️ Let's talk about smoothies for a second. Out in Bali smoothie bowls are big business. However, I only indulged in a couple on my travels there. This is simply because they tend to be laden with added (and natural) sugar. I don't tend to talk too much about sugar as I think it's totally ok in moderation. However, I think it's important to point out that if you started eating smoothie bowls for breakfast, lunch and dinner you could easily be packing in hundreds of grams of sugar a day without even realising it. One of the main issues with this is that this would be at the expense of the other valuable macronutrients protein and fats. As a result, I had a couple of smoothie bowls as treats but I tried to stick to meals which had a more balanced macro nutrient ratio including protein and healthy fats. Fruit heavy smoothies are great every once in a while but just be aware of your overall sugar intake across the day. As always, balance is key ??
