beginnings - preparations for our lunch tomorrow are in full swing. starting early this morning collecting eggs from the hen house, finalizing the menu, making lists and gathering plates and glasses together. I find great pleasure in these preparations, in the process of doing and making. In the company of my mother and grandmother standing in the kitchen, windows open, chatting about everything and nothing the kettle on a constant rotation. Shelling peas for a spring green soup, soaking rice for the milk risotto, washing lettuces for salad. It is really not about the meal but about the gathering
