We're welcoming Mr. Rogers to our neighborhood. This portrait by Nathan Benn was recently acquired by our @smithsoniannpg.
Millions of children across America grew up watching “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” on television. As its host, Fred Rogers developed more than 1,700 episodes, working with psychologists to tackle tough topics like death and divorce that were unusual for children’s programming.
The program ended in 2001, but Rogers’ legacy lives on in the children who watched, and who he asked, “Won’t you be my neighbor?”
