Did you know the Smithsonian is in #SanFrancisco? This summer, biologists from the @SmithsonianEnvironment are tracking an invasion of European green crabs in Seadrift Lagoon, just north of San Francisco Bay.
Green #crabs are an especially destructive invasive species, eating clams and other bivalves and edging out native crabs. The Smithsonian, @UCDavis, @PortlandState, the Gulf of the Farallones Association and #citizenscience volunteers are working to reduce their numbers and better understand the invaders.
