最も新しい島、フェルナンディナ島に到着。上陸したのは、プンタ・エスピノサという海に張り出した半島のような場所。岩場にいる驚異的な数のウミイグアナも、もはや風景のうち。ここでは海に泳ぎ出るイグアナにも出会いました。ウナギのように体をくねらせて泳ぎます。
午後からは再びイザベラ島の岸壁に。パンガに乗ったままアントニオ・ガウディを想わせる異形の岩場で海鳥たちが生き生きと暮らしている様子を見ました。

Arrived at Fernandina, the newest of the islands. We disembarked in Punta Espinoza, a kind of peninsula sticking out into the sea. The amazingly large numbers of marine iguanas on the rocks seem to form a permanent part of the scenery. Here I also saw some iguanas plunging into the sea for a swim. Their swimming style resembles that of an eel, snaking their bodies left and right through the water.
In the afternoon, we went back to the steep cliffs of Isabela Island. From the panga, I saw lively sea birds living on fantastically-shape rocks, reminiscent of the artworks of Antoni Gaudí.
