This video shows scenes from the lion hunt reliefs. Known as the ‘royal sport of kings’, lion hunting was an ancient tradition, with similar scenes dating back to 3000 BC. You can see objects ranging from monumental sculpture to delicately carved reliefs in our galleries focusing on ancient Assyria. Covering Rooms 6 to 10, the displays introduce the palaces of kings, Assyrian cities, as well as mythology and iconography.
