What’s extraordinary about Uganda and its people is not only do they bring refugees to safety and sanctuary, but they go further. Giving families a plot of land to farm on. Helping to educate children. A country still rebuilding from decades of war, but despite that, showing us a way forward — of building welcome, not building walls.
We can find hope in their example.
The US can say welcome, join our nation. Europe can say welcome, we’ll offer you safety from harm.
Refugees can teach us what life is all about. Let us choose to embrace our fellow human beings as our brothers and sisters. Let us choose to join the @theirc and encourage our representatives and our Governments to put an end to the root of the problem. Let us choose diplomacy, not war.
