This is how you demolish a nuclear power plant without blowing it up. A team of engineers in Germany brought down this 80-meter (262-foot) concrete cooling tower last week without using a single explosive, according to project manager Olaf Day. They used robots instead. "It was the first time in the world this demolition method has been used [on a nuclear plant]," Day said. And while the tower was not deemed radioactive, there is still interest in minimizing dust with this method, experts say. Germany decided to phase out all its nuclear power plants in the wake of the Fukushima disaster in 2011.

ya_boi_bry @dzulfiqarbagast I never said nonrenewable energy is cheaper or anything of the sort. But are you suggesting mass production and consumption of high capacity batteries? Cause you also have to consider the immense environmental impact of manufacturing the batteries, mining for the components of the batteries, the chemical waste produced when manufacturing the batteries, and then the hazardous chemicals in the batteries when being thrown away or attempting to be recycled. Water movement is extremely location specific. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be used, that just means it cant be used everywhere. Besides, I never said the renewable energy sources wouldnt work, I'm simply making a case that nuclear power is much more effective than any renewable energy. It has significantly higher energy outputs, outputs power constantly, leaving NO worries for a backup power, has relatively low waste that is extremely easy to contain. Sure there is at least some chance for a disaster, but when you consider proper training with a proper reactor with proper maintenance, that chance falls close to zero except for the absence of an extreme disaster like sudden massive earthquakes or (A TSUNAMI). But pretending like any form of energy production is free is silly. Even wind and solar isn't free as they require maintenance but nuclear still projects more net gain. And that is only with current reactors let alone future advancements like current projects for a fusion reactor or small scale Thorium reactors that would, in the first case, multiply power output to much higher and, in the second case, make nuclear power immeasurably safer
