I know, being away or taking a “break“ can cause guilt and anxiety. I basically did not leave my house for the first 1-2 months after having Presley. And when I did. I felt like I was doing something wrong. Seriously, I would even find myself, at 2pm in the afternoon, STILL in my pajamas, STILL not having eaten. But you know what? She was on her 3rd bottle, dressed, played with, the chores were attended too, my emails and conference calls were done. BUT WHAT ABOUT ME?! Oh, right, I was still a mess and a half, in my pajamas and desperate for a hair brush, or alone time.  Let’s be honest, you can’t pour from an empty cup. My life was full, but I was empty. And that’s no way to live. So, I did something about it. And I REFUSE to feel guilty about that, and neither should you. Putting yourself first does NOT make you a bad mom. In fact, I truly believe it makes YOU A BETTER MOTHER. One that is modeling for your child that a happy healthy mom, going after her goals, who works hard, still dating her father and caring for herself IS important.
