From climate change denialism to anti-masking to Lysol-drinking, we're living in not just a pandemic, but also an infodemic—the consequences of science being continuously undermined, deprioritized, and disempowered. What if it didn't have to be this way?
•
Today, I’ll be joining @seed co-founder @arakatz and microbiologist, science communicator, and #COVIDTrackingProject partner @jessicamalatyrivera to discuss what this all means. I’ll ask the questions many of you are thinking (because I’m a science lover but also the clear lay person in this zoom!)
•
We'll explore where misinformation comes from, how to detect it, and how this informs the future of scientific translation, education, and communication.
•
We will also be taking a moment of silence to begin, honoring #GeorgeFloyd, what’s happening in Minneapolis, and the communities of color who have disproportionately been lost to COVID. Science and social justice often walk hand in hand. And neither gets to take a day off. We will do our best to hold space for both. The “both and,” if you will, simultaneously.

Live on Zoom at 4pm PST—link in bio to register.
