#BLACKLIVESMATTER

To me, this is more than a black and white issue, it’s a human issue.
And because of that, I think it’s time for every human to take a stance on the matter.
There will be friction, both internally and externally, but that friction and difference of perspective and opinion is what sparks growth.
It’s what blazes the way for change.

We've all heard the saying:
“You’re only as strong as your weakest link.” Well I think that “we are only as free as our most oppressed” rings true too.

What we’ve seen over the past 10 days is a vast mix on the spectrum of selfless compassion and brutal horror that our species is capable of.
To me, this is a call to look within and ask, “what side of this fight do you want to be on?” I’m trying hard to listen.
To learn.
To understand, even though, as a white woman born in the United States, I know I’ll never fully be able to empathize.

It’s time for us to ask hard questions and think critically about the systems we live in.
It’s time for us to shake apathy and recognize our collective power.
