I was once fortunate to share a stage with Mike Tyson in Hong Kong at a conference/party for investment bankers. I have never laughed so hard in my life and found that he had a unique type of self-awareness even though his brain was all over the place. In addition to all of the traumatic impact, I think it’s possible that a vegan diet was contributing.

My brain had toxin-induced brain damage according to @amen_clinics from mold toxins (I shared both the evils of mold and the evils of kale when I was on JRE!) and, for me to heal it, I had to quit eating vegetable oils because they cause inflammation in the brain.

The vegan diet by definition can only contain vegetable oil. Two of my best sellers highlight research about what happens when you eat too much omega six oil - your brain is the part of your body that changes fastest.

Here’s what happens when you go vegan: for the first six weeks, as your cell membranes lose potency from omega six, your body freaks out and releases more thyroid hormone, which temporarily makes you feel good.

Then, that compensating factor stops working, and you begin the long slow decline into weakness, brain fog, joint pain, kidney stones, and acting like a jerk most of the time (if you don’t believe me, just wait for the comments on this post).

Look, it happened to me. I was a devout raw vegan. If you want that state of Bulletproof, do what I did after reading thousands of studies to recover from being fat, sick, and then vegan.

Eat what you are supposed to be made out of. A diet that is at least 50% undamaged healthy fats in the right ratios. That means grass-fed butter, grass-fed meat, egg yolks, and collagen.

The rest of your diet can be vegetables that don’t act as kryptonite for you, as described in the Bulletproof Diet Roadmap (free!).

There’s just one thing: most plants want to kill you, especially kale. Your genetics and your gut bacteria are going to tell you which plants are safe for you to eat. The list won’t be as long as you think it is.
