At 700 Avenida Mariano Escobedo, stands one of the most iconic and significant buildings in contemporary #Mexico: the Camino Real Hotel, which is not only an example of the influence of #Luis Barragán, who advised the then young architect #RicardoLegorretaVilchis, author of the layout and construction of this beautiful building inaugurated on 25 July 1968 by #GustavoDíazOrdaz, and that it would be an avant-garde hotel for the first Olympic Games in a Latin American country (and still the only one until 2016).
And not only that: it soon became an urban emblem of Mexico City. Here you can see the footprint of #Barragán (in its colors and more abstract, almost sculptural forms) and Legorreta's proposal: the use of light and the references to vernacular architecture present in its walls, above all.

But that's not all, this property is also a museum in itself, since #Legorreta was in charge of integrating into his project the then thriving generation of visual artists such as #MathiasGoeritz, author of the Mexican pink lattice that dialogues with the Already a typical yellow wall of Legorreta, in the middle is the Fountain of Eternal Movement, a piece by the sculptor #IsamoNoguchi.
Two plastic works incorporated years later also stand out: the mural The man in front of the infinite (1971) by Rufino Tamayo and Los rincones and La fiesta (both from 1979) by Rodolfo Morales. Today its architecture remains striking, as is the art it houses. A space that must be visited to experience the then daring handling of space and lights and shadows of an architect, who died on December 30, 2011, his work is already part of our collective urban memory. @natgeoespana
