Three words for you on this #NationalFossilDay: Giant. Ground. Sloth.
You'll have to imagine this extinct creature, Eremotherium, standing 11 feet tall. It lived 126,000 to 11,700 years ago and was one of the largest species of giant ground sloth. While it didn’t live in trees, this herbivore used its clawed hands to pull down tree branches and eat mouthfuls of leaves like its (much smaller) sloth relatives today.
