It's World BREAD DAY today! Throwback to my Yiayia's perfect loaf of bread. 😍
When I posted this photo, SO many of you asked me to share her recipe. I promise I asked her for it, but in classic Yiayia style she wouldn't give me the exact instructions for how to make it. 😂🇬🇷
My sister and I had a competition - her recipe - different houses .... and mine won haha (in my person opinion) Here it is 😁👌
➕ 1.5 cups warm water
➕ 1/2 tsp dried yeast
➕ 3 cups plain flour
➕ BIG pinch of salt flakes
➕ Extra salt to sprinkle on top
✅ Mix warm water with yeast until it dissolves. Add into the bowl with flour and salt, and mix well.
✅ Lightly flour a bench and knead the bread until it forms a perfect ball. Place back into the bowl and cover with a tea towel. Leave to rise for 2-3 hours.
✅ Pre-heat oven to 220° Celsius.
✅ Remove from bowl, (sprinkle herbs over the top if you want), and then shape into a ball and place into an oven safe pot. Sprinkle salt flakes on top and cover with a lid.
✅ Cook in the oven for 30 minutes, remove lid and then cook for another 10 minutes.
Eat your bread fresh and dipped in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt.
