The peculiar look of the flat headed cat is vital to this species’ ability to survive in the wild. As a frequent visitor of mud-banks and riversides, this species feeds predominantly on fish, frogs, and crustaceans. Having eyes positioned farther forward on the head and closer together maximizes their binocular vision, making it easier for these cats to find and catch prey hiding beneath the surface of the water.
