It’s easy to get attached to the use of a flash when shooting incredibly close up, but sometimes I remind myself to mix it up and shoot without it. For all of these shots, I wanted to keep the background very soft, so I shot at relatively wide apertures and used focus stacking. You can also see how the position of the droplets shifted over time, a common experience even when I’m extremely careful about my movements.
