It was a stark reminder to live in the moment and really enjoy life. My friend and I booked a bucket list trip to South Africa and left a few days later: we went on safari, swam with sharks, climbed mountains - it was amazing. I'd been single for 6 years at that point. I was pretty happy travelling the world, DJing, and spending all my time with friends. Life was fabulous 💅And yet, people would always ask me why I was STILL single. As if my life was less than. It was interesting to me because around me I saw so many unhappy relationships. Why didn’t we ask those people why they were STILL in relationships. It feels like society sees being in a relationship with ANYONE - especially after 30, as better than being single. Anyway, little did I know, I’d go on a date with the guy who would end up being my person 2 days after getting back from South Africa. The guy I would end up doing lockdown with and having babies. My person. 🦞Life changed so quickly and so unexpectedly. I mean none of us predicted a global pandemic - nor did I ever imagine a life with children. It's like I came out of lockdown a completely different person. I am SO grateful for this life now. But it also makes me SO glad I enjoyed my single chapter and didn't wish it away. Because life changed SO quickly and I don't get to solo travel and take up new hobbies and invest all my love and time into my girlfriends. Both chapters can be wonderful. So if you are ‘still’ single, or maybe going through a breakup, I just want to say try not to wish your current chapter away. Don’t let society make you believe that being single is ‘less than’. I guess the patriarchy need us to believe settling is better than the alternative. But I could not imagine doing this current chapter of parenting with a low effort guy. And being single really allowed me to get to know myself. I learned that I never needed another half because I'm already whole. So live each chapter to its fullest because you never quite know when that chapter will end. 🤍✨」7月28日 5時16分
