Shoutout to all the stellar photographers for capturing these moments! @jimwolf9426 Recent reflections: - It’s hard to describe the magic of beach volleyball to others. ✨ I just know that being on the court always feels like coming home. 🙏🏼🥹 - I’ve started competing in a variety of arenas, and challenging myself in different ways. A lot of these competitions are grueling & intense, physically & mentally 😅. They offer a lot of opportunity to lean into discomfort, and grow. But they’re often not exactly what I would describe as “fun” in the moment. I think it’s important to do things that bring you joy too (even if they offer nothing more than that), and for me, I find that in team sports & occupations/endeavors where you work collaboratively with others (fire, etc). - A lot of physical competitions require you to move in box-like parameters 📦. You run in a straight line. You lift an object up, then put it back down. You carry something a specific distance. Everything is intentional, controlled, and you know what you are going to do before you do it. I thrive here with preparation, hard work, & brain power 🧠🤓. But what I find so invigorating in sports is what I’ve dubbed “freedom of movement”. You don’t have time to think - you react. Whether it be to a ball, your opponents, or any present/ evolving situation. Your body moves in every plane & direction, at varied speeds, with different forces. The mind/body connection has to be stronger than ever, instincts are relied on, and “flow state” is often achieved. Nothing can replicate this. We all need more freedom of movement. 💫 - In individual competitions, the results all come down to my own performance & preparation. I like the aspect of extreme ownership. But team sports are a breath of fresh air, because I always have a crew to back me up! It’s more about collaborative efforts/results. The relief of being allowed to be perfectly imperfect is beautiful. Just show up fully and leave it all out on the court.🤘🏼 Here’s to all the teammates/crews we get to go to war with 😤🫶🏻🍻」8月9日 7時57分
