【Meet Akita Inu!】

While the heartwarming tale of loyal Hachiko is widely known, it’s a common misconception that he was a Shiba Inu. In fact, Hachiko was an Akita Inu.

Hachiko became a symbol of Shibuya, but little did us know that Hachiko was actually born in Odate City, exactly 100 years ago.

This year, as we mark Hachi’s 100th birthday, it’s a momentous occasion that binds Shibuya and Odate in celebrating his unwavering loyalty that touched the world. 🥹🙏🏻❤️

There’s no better chance to meet an Akita Inu (or two, or even three!!) than it’s birthplace—Odate City in Akita Prefecture!
