The first time the lights went out in her presidential palace in Brasília, @dilmarousseff grimaced. The next time, she rolled her eyes. The 3rd time, she jumped out of her chair, demanding that subordinates find out what was going on. With Brazil’s first female president stripped of her authority, a sense of powerlessness and indignation pervades the Palácio da Alvorada, the futuristic palace where @dilmarousseff is allowed to stay while the fight to oust her grinds on in the Senate. In the run-up to @リオ五輪2016, Brazil was hoping to celebrate its triumphs, and @dilmarousseff was supposed to be preparing to greet world leaders. But Palácio da Alvorada feels less like a lavish manor these days than a bunker. For now, @dilmarousseff is sticking to her routines — riding her bicycle in the mornings and reading each night. The photographer Tomas Munita captured 2 security guards at the palace last week.
