A first grader worked on a group exercise at Public School 188 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Last school year, 47% of the students who attended PS 188 were homeless. Most students come from the public housing that surrounds the school, or from one of 4 homeless shelters in the area. The number of #homeless people in New York has never been larger. “This crisis does not play out just in the grown-up world of streets and shelters,” writes @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reporter Elizabeth A.
