Ursula Marvin wanted to change her major from history to geology, but her professor said she should learn to cook instead.
He later offered Marvin a position teaching mineralogy. Marvin went on to become a planetary geologist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
She studied lunar samples from NASA’s historic Apollo missions, helping us understand how the Moon was formed.
After hearing about the search for meteorites embedded in the Arctic sheet, Marvin personally sought out the expedition leader to join the team. She went three times to collect dozens of meteorites. An asteroid is named for her.
Marvin also helped organize a 1975 “Space for Women Conference,” which helped young women prepare for careers in science.
She retired in 1998, but continued to research and publish well into her 90s.

Real big lie there humans. @fbi @10downingstreet. She went down there for fraud; there was a meteor study there. She was under observation to keep her from sex trafficking while there. And during my cross continent solo treck hand carrying signatures for the big treaty which kicked up a mag storm & other anomalies, she threatened to start mass hysteria over military maneuvers that didn't happen. So when asked by @hillaryclinton what was the study, she was an expert cleared to discuss my astral welfall study, & said, "it was meteors." @deptofdefense at the time for once back then went with Mattis, who said he didn't verify a better answer just then; & no one asked since.
