Due to lockdown I haven't seen them in a really long time. We travel a lot together and I miss them so much. We visited London and Tate Modern all together many years ago. It was an exciting afternoon where we discovered such beautiful artworks. When we stood in front of Giuseppe Penone's trees it was breathtaking. Sometimes I'd like to be one of Penone's trees, and going back to the past to live beautiful moments again.' ​ ​Giuseppe Penone's 'Tree of 12 Metres' was on display at Tate Modern in 2013, but you may recognise the work if you visited 'Among the Trees at @southbankcentre @hayward.gallery in 2020. The artist's first tree sculptures were made in 1969 and this work dates from 1980. At a time when many artists were abandoning traditional sculptural techniques, Penone began to use perhaps the most ancient method – carving. He took industrially sawn units of timber and, using chisels, followed the knots in the planks to remove rings of wood and expose the shape of a tree. His work looks at the relationship of industry and nature, suggesting that a sensitive approach to materials is still possible in an industrialised world.  ​ Penone describes trees as ‘perfect sculptures’. ​🌳」1月30日 21時37分 - tate
