standing in the kitchen, starting all the preparations for the meal tomorrow - feeling thankful to have a day to celebrate in the middle of the week with a meal and family and friends around the table - lighting fire places on this brisk autumnal afternoon, adding a few extra places for friends who's plans changed because the more the merrier - my finger tips are a mellow shade of orange from all the squash and pumpkin I've been pealing and chopping - for stuffing roasting and pie - getting ready to roll out some pastry dough for crusts (possibly one of my favorite holiday rituals) on my great grandmothers pastry cloth and grating the cinnamon, nutmeg and clove to spice the pumpkin - a few recipes up on the blog if you fancy following along -
