Associated with calmness, endurance and empathy, Kapha is all about slow and steady. The large eyes, thick hair and round features of Kapha speak the language of universal beauty. And yet, Kapha imbalances can lead to stagnation, indigestion, depression, congestion, and general heaviness. _ Day 4 is Vashishtasana. Commonly referred to as Side Plank, this asana is a powerful pose aimed at restoring vital function to the Kapha body and mind. Named after the great sage Vashishta, this challenging arm balance channels the energy of the prolific and mythological figure of its namesake. Not only is this asana an arm balance but the unique combination of external hip rotate with both balance and strength makes Vashistasana just what is needed to restore Kapha. _ Alignment keys to think about while practicing— . *Start off with the basics. Build up a good solid side plank pose before thinking about extending the leg *If you lift your leg, remember to externally rotate the hip joint and follow the natural end of your joint range. Don’t force beyond that *Balance is a state of mind and where you gaze helps your sense of spatial orientation.
