Vata is often associated with the elements of wind and ether and what moves things in the body and in the world. Without Vata, the wind or breath, the other doshas are not able to move. From a personality perspective Vata is adaptable and often shies away from discipline or regularity. Respiration and circulation are qualities of this dosha. Vata people are often idiosyncratic. Physically they may lack symmetry or have irregularities. Their hair is often fine and veins are easily visible under their often dry, chapped skin. _ Day 5 is Utkatasana, the Chair Pose, an asana that can balance Vata when practiced with an emphasis on deep breathing. Sinking down into the hips activates the quadriceps. Raising the arms stimulates the cardiovascular system.
